Making your own healthy homemade dog food lets you control what goes into the recipe thereby ensuring your pet is getting a nutritious and wholesome meal. You can also tailor the recipes to your dog’s taste preferences as well as any dietary restrictions. Every recipe has been carefully researched, Kirby tested, and Kirby approved. Bone Appetit!

Even though I have done, and continue to do, extensive research please seek the advice of your Veterinarian before changing your dog's diet or adding any ingredients to your dog's food especially if your dog has any underlying health issues.

We have retired recipes that were published in The Canine Chef Cookbook to make way for new recipes. An * denotes recipes published in The Canine Chef Cookbook which I have decided not to remove since they have achieved power pin ranking.

Dog Food Recipes

The same dry kibble day after day? I think not when there are so many wholesome, fresh ingredients to choose from.  If feeding 50% or more home made be sure to supplement with a daily pet multi-vitamin and use the ground eggshell measurements included in each recipe for calcium.

Supplemental Feedings

These are what I add to Kirby's meals. Some are daily while some are as needed. In addition, I may add sardines, cottage cheese yogurt.

Turmeric For Life

I am incorporating turmeric into a lifestyle for both myself and my dogs. This magical spice is both a treatment and a preventative so I make sure we all have several servings every day. It's called the spice of life but variety is key.

Grain Free Dog Food Recipes

Many people prefer to not feed their dog grains and many dogs have allergies to grains. Kirby doesn't have any allergies so we like to mix it up.

Low Fat Dog Food Recipes

Less than 20% total fat is the recommendation for a low fat diet while 10% to 12% total fat is recommended for an ultra low fat diet. Always check with your veterinarian before changing your dog's diet.

Toppers & Sides Dishes

If your dog eats kibble, or you want to add a little extra to their homemade meal, these are nutritious bites for a healthy dose of vitamins and minerals.

Bonus Section

These are amazing recipes for the human which I find oh so delish!  Some of them can be shared with your pups ONLY IF YOU MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO DANGEROUS INGREDIENTS for dogs.
